A New Online Business
Walter Film was known by collectors around the United States and abroad for their outstanding selection of original vintage inventory items. The items were sold at fairs and through personal connections as well as through Ebay and Amazon stores. Walter Reuben, the owner and visionary of Walter Film, wanted to have an online presence that he controlled as well and so Walter Film became also an online e-commerce store selling one of a kind products. Displaying the products and their unique characteristics was critical to the success of the project. This Niche Retail E-Commerce case study highlights some of the strategies implemented to grow his online presence.

Strategy and Tactics
VIEWS worked with Bolen High of High Arte to develop not just a “Store – a retail establishment selling items to the public” but a “Gallery – a room or building for the display or sale of works of art. Walter Film provides a venue where people can review what is being offered, be informed by the experience and, if so inclined, purchase one of the items on display. Rarely does a person who goes to a Gallery know what they’re going to purchase, if they did, they would go to an auction.

The sales have grown online and off but maybe the most impactful aspect of the website is that it has a unique ability to function as an extraordinary resource for major collectors, museums, and educational institutions .
