The Mobile Technology Movement

We are currently living in the world driven by technological advancements. Who would have thought that smartphones and apps could turn out this big! The mobile technology revolution dominates society today because it single-handedly engages us and makes it easier to communicate, make digital transactions, and connect in many ways we hadn’t even thought about two decades ago.
Let’s play a game of remember when – Remember when you had to leave a wake up call in a hotel? Remember when you had a calendar on your desk? Remember when your phone was attached to a wall? Remember when you had to carry your wallet when going shopping or dining? With the help of your mobile device those days are over. You can simply say “wake me” and the phone will do so, you carry your calendar in your pocket and you can even use apps such as Apple Pay to pay your bills.
Pros and Cons of Mobile Technology
Mobile technology has its pros and cons but the pros far outweigh the cons. As a business person, you need to adapt to these changes. You don’t want to miss connecting with the significant number of mobile users – over 30% of the world’s population and nearly 80% in the US. Additionally, the average user spends an average of 4 to 5 hours on their phone surfing the internet, taking photographs, playing games and communicating. According to a survey done, 90% of consumers use their smartphones while shopping in retail stores. While more than approximately 54% of consumers use their devices to compare prices, others search for product information (48.4%) and reviews (42%).
As a business owner or marketer, don’t be discouraged if they tell you your industry isn’t right for mobile marketing. Somewhere out there, somebody is using their smartphone to search for exactly what you offer! Here’s an infographic to give you an idea what the mobile revolution is about.
